The Janet Denney School of Dancing was first set up in April 1983, teaching A.R.I.S.D.A. ballet and tap to children aged 3 and over.
The school now has approximately 40 pupils aged from 3 to 21 years old and classes are held in Trealaw on Saturday mornings. Janet is assisted with the teaching by two other qualified teachers; Jacqui Onions (A.R.I.S.D.A. teachers certificate in tap and associates certificate), and Becca Evans (A.R.I.S.D.A. teachers certificate in tap and associates certificate). Janet is also assisted with the younger pupils by professional teaching assistant, Leigh Evans.
As well as having the opportunity to take annual examinations and medal tests, pupils are able to perform in shows, competitions and demonstrations 2-3 times a year. These provide pupils with the opportunity to show people what they have learned, facilitate the development of important life skills such as team work and confidence, allow older pupils to try their hand at choreography, and let the children with a flare for singing or acting demonstrate their skills.
