Janet Denney was born in Cwmbran, South Wales. She first started dancing at the age of 7 when she began attending the Diane Screen School of Dancing in Newport. As a teenager she went to the Little Academy of Dancing, also in Newport, where she learned ballet, tap and modern ballet.

Her career as a professional dancer started when, at the age of 18, she joined a Richard Stone Review Company at Butlins, Minehead. While working there she met the compere and comedian, Mike Onions, who she went on to marry in 1972. Mike now comperes and performs in the shows that his wife produces.

Janet went on to dance in Summer Shows, Old Time Music Hall, and pantomimes in theatres all over England. In addition to her dancing she played the part of Good Fairy in pantomimes produced by Mr. Gordon Jay and Mr. Duggie Chapman.

Having taught dance to members of her mother’s concert party, The Merry Makers, Janet decided to set up a dancing school of her own and joined the A.R.I.S.D.A. as a teacher.

Janet has a DBS check.
